Once upon a time: a child knew fear. This was expected: Nightmares – Abandonment – Lack of Control. This is appropriate at some level in the developing mind.
But a curious thing happens: a child grows up.
Fear grows up as well. Job; Money; Politics; Endless other Permutations. Yet — the roots go deep. Followed to the end (if we dare), what might we find? But oh my, how it has grown…
Remember this: once upon a time a child knew joy — as simple as a cardboard box and crayons; or a mother’s kiss. Yes, fear also — but in a supporting role. This must not be forgotten, even by grownups veering close to the river.
