The Cafe Bustelo can — Espresso Ground Coffee, yellow and scarlet, NET WT 10 OZ( 283g) — it holds three feathers. One is a crow’s. The second and largest looks like a crow’s but it is not — the calamus and rachis are thick, and the rachis is white to the tip. The underside is lighter than the black top. The feather narrows toward the tip. It could be a pileated woodpacker’s tail feather based on proximity to the old pine. The third feather is small and black, rising just an inch over the rim of the can. The white bottom is unseen below the rim, indicating a small feather from a pileated woodpecker, again. Writing sticks share the can — a wooden pencil — two red pens and a black.
